Jessica Shuford is an Alabama native who studied business at Troy University in Montgomery, AL before deciding she no longer wanted to accumulate student loan debt, but rather have a more hands on approach in learning what she considers a passion for her. She became an entrepreneur in 2008 after working and doing apprenticeships for CPAs and bookkeepers. Jessica was employed while still building her business in the process. In 2018, Jessica became a full-time entrepreneur while remaining coachable in her field of work. She realized soon after becoming a full-time entrepreneur, this wasn't a task for the faint hearted. Entrepreneurship is something that takes more than just financial knowledge, but also needs a dedicated mental approach, she stated. Growing up in a household with a single mom prompted Jessica at a young age to take a different approach in what she calls “the real world” and becoming financially stable was top on her list. Financial literacy wasn’t something taught in school and wasn’t amongst most black communities. She became more understanding that it was going to take a lot of un-learning in order to elevate and help others elevate within their finances. Jessica then took the liberty of becoming a certified life and business coach to help her community grow in the areas most African Americans are shield from.
